Introducing The Metropole

The best views in Padstow

The Met was built during the wave of new hotels all around Cornwall, which followed the expansion of the railway network in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Cory brothers, originally from Swansea, started building the hotel in 1901, finishing it in 1904, for the princely sum of £12,000! In recent years, the hotel has undergone extensive refurbishment, and is proud to have achieved 4 star status.

The hotel is certainly a home-from-home....offering cosy nooks from where to watch the hustle and bustle of the little harbour or estuary, comfortable, individually-decorated bedrooms and delicious food to tempt the taste buds.

As you’d expect from a hotel in Padstow, we offer a range of delicious menu options in our award-winning restaurant, incorporating as much local produce as possible. Our guests can also enjoy less formal dining in our Café Bar.

Families are welcome at The Met. Our outdoor pool is open during the months of July and August and we have some great beaches on our doorstep as well as the excitement of the harbour a stone's throw away. We have a number of family rooms available. The Met is also the ideal base from which to explore Padstow and the local area.  There is something for everyone – walking, cycling, sailing and golfing – and there’s a plethora of local attractions to keep everyone happy.

With our elegant interiors and our wonderful views, we are also the perfect venue for events. Our gardens and views over the Camel Estuary provide a wonderful backdrop for wedding photographs and with our selection of function rooms, we can cater for intimiate gatherings or more grand scale celebrations.
